The collection includes personal correspondence between Waters and her family and friends, as well as minutes, correspondence and other material pertaining to her involvement with teachers' organizations and other groups. Personal correspondence includes letters from journalist T. Timothy Fortune, and Wilbur F. "Sgt. Hop" Brown, a United States Army soldier serving with the 139 Infantry Division, Co. B, during World War I. Other personal material includes documentation of her charitable donations and receipts relating to home repairs.

In 1955, led by Oscar Robertson, Crispus Attucks High School became the first Indianapolis school to win the state basketball championship. The school repeated the honor the following year.
